Wimbledon Foundation

Wimbledon is the world's oldest tennis tournament, organized annually by The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) at its grounds in Wimbledon, London. The event has been held since 1877 on outdoor grass courts, making it unique among Grand Slam tournaments. It takes place over two weeks in late June to early July and features various competitions, including men's and women's singles and doubles, mixed doubles, and junior events. The AELTC was founded in 1868 and initially focused on croquet before adding lawn tennis in 1876. The tournament has evolved significantly over the years, introducing women's events in 1884 and becoming a Grand Slam in the 1930s. Wimbledon is known for its traditions, such as the all-white dress code, and it attracts elite tennis players from around the world. The club employs around 6,000 staff to support the Championships, which has grown to accommodate large crowds and has a rich history of royal visits and milestones in sports broadcasting.
