The first event attracted 700 registrants and featured around 200 bands, and it has since expanded significantly, now drawing over 400,000 attendees annually. The festival operates three main components: SXSW Music, SXSW Film, and SXSW Interactive. SXSW Music remains the original focus, while SXSW Film offers a platform for new filmmakers through keynotes, workshops, and mentorship programs. SXSW Interactive highlights emerging technologies and digital media innovations. The festival also includes comedy and gaming events, as well as a Hall of Fame for industry trendsetters. With international offices and a commitment to digital content, SXSW continues to be a vital hub for creative professionals and a source of inspiration for similar events worldwide.
