Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is a prominent public library system serving all residents of Brooklyn, New York. With 61 branches and outreach sites in schools, shelters, senior centers, and jails, it ranks as the sixteenth largest public library system in the U.S. by holdings and seventh by visitor numbers. Established in 1892, BPL has evolved into a vital community resource, marked by its iconic Central Library at Grand Army Plaza, which opened in 1941. BPL offers a wide range of services beyond traditional book lending. It provides access to laptops, hosts live music events, and offers programs like voter registration and resume workshops.
