Leicestershire County Council

Leicestershire County Council is the upper-tier local authority for Leicestershire, England. Established in 1889, it is based at County Hall in Glenfield. The council operates under a Leader and Cabinet model, with 55 elected County Councillors representing 53 electoral divisions. The Cabinet meets monthly to make key decisions, including budget recommendations and major plans. The council provides a range of county-level services through six departments: Corporate Resources, Environment and Transport, Adults and Communities, Children and Family Services, Public Health, and the Chief Executive's office. These departments cover areas such as finance, social care, transport, and public health initiatives. Additionally, the council has overview and scrutiny committees to ensure accountability and improve policies. It collaborates with other public sector organizations and is a member of the Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation, which offers cost-effective procurement services.
