Francis Crick Institute

The Francis Crick Institute is Europe's largest biomedical research center, located in London. Established in 2010 and officially opened in 2016, it focuses on multidisciplinary discovery research to understand human biology and disease mechanisms. The institute employs around 1,500 staff, including 1,250 scientists, and operates with an annual budget exceeding £100 million. The institute emerged from discussions by the Medical Research Council about relocating the National Institute for Medical Research. It combines expertise from several founding partners, including the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK, and University College London. The Crick Institute emphasizes collaboration across various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, and engineering, to address diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Its mission promotes a "discovery without boundaries" approach, fostering partnerships and advancing scientific knowledge.
