Altru Health System

Altru Health System is a nonprofit, community-owned healthcare organization based in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It serves over 230,000 residents in northeast North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, employing around 3,500 health professionals and support staff. With a history spanning over 130 years, Altru has evolved significantly since its origins in 1892 with the establishment of St. Luke's Hospital. The organization operates a 257-bed acute care hospital, a specialty center, and 14 clinics throughout the region. Altru offers a wide range of services, including family medicine, cancer treatment, cardiac care, mental health services, and rehabilitation. The new hospital facility, which opened in January 2025, features advanced medical technology and has been designated a Level II trauma center. Altru is committed to enhancing healthcare access and quality in the communities it serves.
