American Association for the Advancement of Science

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a professional organization founded in 1876 by chemists at New York University. With over 155,000 members, it serves individuals in chemistry, chemical engineering, and related fields. The ACS operates through 186 local sections across the United States and has international chapters and 32 disciplinary divisions. The ACS offers a range of services to the chemistry community, including the publication of the Journal of the American Chemical Society and Chemical Abstracts. It organizes national meetings twice a year for networking and professional development. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals across the United States. Founded in 1866 by Henry Bergh in New York City, it is the oldest animal welfare organization in North America. The ASPCA's mission focuses on protecting dogs, cats, equines, farm animals, and other vulnerable species through legal enforcement, advocacy, rescue efforts, and public education. The ASPCA engages in various activities, including responding to abuse cases, providing disaster response and pet relocation services, and offering veterinary and behavioral care. It also advocates for stronger animal protection laws and supports local shelters and clinics with training and resources. The organization emphasizes collaboration with federal, state, and local agencies to enhance animal welfare practices nationwide. With over two million supporters, the ASPCA has played a significant role in shaping animal protection laws and promoting humane treatment for over 150 years.
