Florida State University

Florida State University, located in Tallahassee, is one of the largest and oldest institutions in Florida's State University System. Established in 1823, it officially began offering postsecondary education in 1857. Over the years, it has undergone several name changes, becoming Florida State University in 1947 when it transitioned to a coeducational institution. The university serves approximately 45,000 students across 18 colleges, providing a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in disciplines such as liberal arts, sciences, music, and teacher education. Florida State University is recognized as a preeminent university in Florida and boasts a strong research enterprise, employing over 6,000 faculty members and housing advanced research facilities, including the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.
